Introduction

The MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls character wiki collects every launch fighter with their backstory, signature moves, optimal combo routes and recommended team placement. Twenty characters launch across five preset teams plus the Remix Web Warriors squad, and the wiki gives each fighter a dedicated deep-dive page covering their canonical role (hero, anti-hero, villain), their in-game archetype, their EASE OF USE rating, their tier placement, and their top five combos in both Simple and Advanced routing. You will find pages for Captain America, Iron Man, Hulk, Black Panther, Storm, Magik, Wolverine, Danger, Doctor Doom, Magneto, Green Goblin, Carnage, Blade, Loki, Deadpool, Ghost Rider, Spider-Man, Peni Parker, Star-Lord and Ms. Marvel — all 20 launch fighters with screenshots from the Open Beta build and links to the dedicated guide articles. Beyond the launch roster we document the Year-1 Pass pipeline (four DLC characters before December 31, 2027) plus the strongest Team Remix combinations discovered by the Open Beta community. Use the character wiki to plan a single-fighter ranked climb, scout opponent tendencies, or just browse the roster and learn each character's signature move names and animations.

Core Mechanics

Character mechanics span four attack buttons (Light, Medium, Heavy, plus a fourth Unique button for signature specials), three Skill tiers (Skill, Super Skill, Ultimate Skill), the × Assist and Switch system, and a Signature combo loop. Each character has a unique archetype (All-rounder, Zoner, Brawler, Rushdown, Mid-range, Hybrid, Trapper) and an EASE OF USE rating that drives the recommended learning order. Characters contribute to a shared team Skill Gauge that fills as they deal and receive damage, with Anchor characters starting rounds at 100% Gauge. Each character has a canonical team placement (Point, Second, Third, Anchor) that the preset teams respect — Captain America leads Fighting Avengers as Point, Doctor Doom leads Knights of Doom as Anchor, and so on. Character-specific mechanics include Spider-Man's web zip, Storm's wind rider, Doctor Doom's mystic shield, Magneto's metal triangle jump, and Green Goblin's glider mount — these signature moves define the character's identity in combos. Year-1 Pass will add four more characters before December 31, 2027, with at least one Inhumans-themed fighter confirmed.

Advantages

The 20-character launch roster covers every major Marvel hero archetype with distinct visual design, animation style and signature moves. Each character has a canonical team placement and Episode Mode chapter, giving them narrative weight beyond just being a fighting game puppet. EASE OF USE ratings give newcomers a clear learning path from Easy (Captain America, Ms. Marvel, Wolverine, Iron Man, Spider-Man) through Medium to Hard. Archetype diversity means every playstyle has at least two representatives, so Versus team building has real depth and meta diversity. Signature moves are visually distinct and thematically appropriate — Spider-Man's web zip, Storm's wind rider, Doctor Doom's mystic shield, Magneto's metal triangle jump all read instantly. Year-1 Pass adds four more characters before December 31, 2027 with at least one Inhumans-themed fighter confirmed, expanding the roster meta.

Challenges

Character challenges include the breadth of 20 launch fighters to learn — newcomers may feel overwhelmed by the choice rather than empowered. EASE OF USE rating is a starting point but doesn't fully capture execution floor — Danger is rated Medium but has a high mechanical complexity due to AI manipulation. Some characters have narrow matchup spreads — Spider-Man struggles against zoners like Storm and Doctor Doom, while Hulk struggles against rushdown teams. Tier list subjectivity during early meta means community tier lists shift rapidly, which can feel chaotic for players who want stable competitive guidance. Canonical team placement can feel restrictive — players who want to put Spider-Man as Anchor in a Remix team may not get the optimal Anchor bonuses the canonical team provides. Year-1 Pass adds four characters but the long delivery window (before 2027-12-31) means roster growth is slower than competitors.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who is the best character for a brand new player?+
Captain America is the recommended first pick. He is rated Easy by the official EASE OF USE system, serves as the tutorial character in the Startup Battle, and has a balanced toolset that covers mid range, zoning and anti-air. Wolverine and Ms. Marvel are tied for second thanks to short, forgiving combo strings and strong neutral tools. Spider-Man and Iron Man round out the easy tier for players who prefer aerial or ranged playstyles. Avoid Storm and Danger until you have at least ten hours of Versus experience.
How many characters are on the launch roster?+
The launch roster contains 20 characters split across five preset teams. Fighting Avengers includes Captain America, Iron Man, Hulk and Black Panther. Unbreakable X-Men includes Storm, Magik, Wolverine and Danger. Knights of Doom includes Doctor Doom, Magneto, Green Goblin and Carnage. Samurai Squad includes Blade, Loki, Deadpool and Ghost Rider. Web Warriors includes Spider-Man, Peni Parker, Star-Lord and Ms. Marvel. The Year-1 Pass adds four more characters before the end of 2027.
What is EASE OF USE and how should I use it?+
EASE OF USE is the official difficulty rating printed on each character select screen. Captain America, Iron Man, Wolverine, Spider-Man and Ms. Marvel are marked Easy. Hulk, Black Panther, Magik, Doctor Doom, Magneto, Green Goblin, Blade, Loki, Deadpool, Ghost Rider, Peni Parker and Star-Lord are Medium. Storm, Danger and Carnage are Hard. The rating reflects combo length, neutral game complexity and recovery frames. Use it as a starting point but trust your matchup experience over time.

Quick Tips

💡

Pick Captain America as your first main — he's the easiest EASE OF USE character, covers the All-rounder archetype, and has the strongest neutral game in the launch roster.

💡

Test one character from each archetype (All-rounder, Zoner, Brawler, Rushdown, Mid-range) before committing — Tōkon's meta rewards archetype diversity over single-character mastery.

💡

Read the character wiki page for your main before ranked play — the optimal combo routes and team placement differ significantly between archetypes.
